At A Way Through Counseling & Wellness Center, we understand that you may have questions about our services. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions to help guide you.
What insurances do you accept?
We accept nearly all insurance plans (see our list), including Medicaid and cash payments for counseling. However, peripheral services such as Peer Support, and Case Management are available exclusively to Medicaid clients.

How do I schedule an appointment?
To set up an appointment, please call our front desk at

What is your cancellation policy?
We kindly request that you notify us at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Late cancellations or missed appointments will incur a fee of $100. If you miss an appointment without prior notification, it will be recorded as a “no show,” which could lead to discontinuation of services.
Can I switch services or providers if my needs change?
Certainly! We recognize that mental health needs can change over time, and we are open to modifying your care plan. If you believe another service or provider might better meet your requirements, we will collaborate with you to implement the appropriate adjustments.
Do I need a referral to access services?
Generally, a referral is not necessary. You can directly contact us to discuss your needs. However, certain programs, like case management or rehabilitation services, may require an assessment to confirm eligibility.
What is the duration of sessions?
Counseling sessions typically last for 60 minutes.
Behavioral Health: Peer Support can receive up to 2 hours per week, CBRS can receive up to 1.5 hours per week and Case Management up to 1 hour of service weekly.
Do you provide virtual counseling?
Yes, many of our therapists offer telehealth sessions for clients who prefer or require remote options. These sessions are conducted securely through video (TeleHealth) conferencing platforms.
What role does peer support play in mental health recovery?
Peer support specialists, draw from their own life experience with mental health recovery, provide guidance, understanding, and motivation. Their role is to empower clients by offering relatable insights and assisting them in setting and achieving recovery goals.
What is community-based rehabilitation services?
Psychosocial rehabilitation (CBRS) assists individuals with mental health conditions in developing essential skills for independent living, enhancing social functioning, and integrating into the community. This may include training in life skills, social interactions, personal hygiene, budgeting, job readiness, coping strategies, and other focused areas. The primary aim is to promote independence and overall well-being.
What does case management involve?
Case management services aim to assist individuals in navigating mental health systems, accessing resources, and coordinating care. Case managers collaborate closely with you to help connect with housing, employment, medical care, and various support services.
